Evaluation of neck shaft angle achieved immediately after surgical fixation of intertrochanteric fracture

چکیده

Background: The angle between femur neck and the long axis of shaft is known as which plays vital role in stability, control lateral balance, walking hip movements. main goal was to compare NSA intertrochanteric fracture immediately after surgical fixation using either Dynamic Hip Screw or Proximal Femoral Nail. In elderly among all fractures approximately half are out 50% unstable.Method: X-ray pelvis with both hips taken prior fixation, done PFN DHS morphometric measurements were taken.Result: mean restored (131.10±7.24 degree) almost similar that normal side (129.58±5.79degree) whereas it more (141.65±9.78 degree). Conclusion: Restoration Anatomical achievable compared NSA.

CT evaluation of torsional malalignment after intertrochanteric fracture fixation.

INTRODUCTION Trochanteric fractures are commonly stabilized either by intramedullary nailing or plate and screw fixation after reduction on the orthopaedic surgical table under radiological guidance. HYPOTHESIS Closed trochanteric fracture anatomic reduction is difficult in the transversal plane. OBJECTIVES The objective of this prospective study was to assess the rotational malalignment in...

Early rehabilitation following surgical fixation of a femoral shaft fracture.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The purpose of this case report is to describe the outcome of a patient following fixation of a midshaft femur fracture and an evaluation-based, immediate-weight-bearing approach to rehabilitation. CASE DESCRIPTION The patient was a 28-year-old male manual laborer whose left femur was fractured in a head-on motor vehicle accident. The patient was treated with internal f...

Subcapital femoral neck fracture after fixation of an intertrochanteric fracture with a proximal femoral nail: a report of two cases.

Subcapital femoral neck fractures are a rare complication after fixation of an intertrochanteric fracture with a proximal femoral nail. We report 2 such cases where the patients had severe osteoporosis, based on Singh's index and pathological findings. In one case there was a technical error leading to a tip-apex distance of more than 20 mm, but osteoporosis appeared to be a more significant ca...

Pseudocyst formation after intertrochanteric fracture fixation: a case report.

We describe a 62-year-old woman who developed two pseudocysts, 25 x 15 cm and 20 x 12 cm, in the left proximal thigh as a complication 19 years after internal fixation of an intertrochanteric fracture. She received a 135 degrees dynamic hip screw and side plate in May 1979. She continued to live at home without major discomfort until May 1997. Two huge pseudocysts were noted in the left proxima...

Shortening After Femoral Neck Fracture Fixation

When using parallel screws for treatment of femoral neck fractures, shortening of the femoral neck might occur. Given the high revision surgery rates associated with parallel screws, we developed a questionnaire to explore (1) surgeons’ viewpoints on difficulties in the fixation of femoral neck fractures, (2) their perception of the clinical importance of femoral neck shortening after internal ...
